This #10 (15oz) waxed canvas in Nutmeg is a beast. It's a heavy, rugged, super-durable, do everything material with a "double filled" weave construction. This means it's super-resistant to tearing and has nine lives. OK, that's a stretch, but it's really strong. We have it on good authority that this stuff will handle just about anything you can throw at it, and laughs at the weather, hot or cold.
With the wax finish, this canvas is of course water repellent. The wax formula is non-toxic and non-hazardous, just the way it should be.
Care and maintenance? Not much. Washing generally isn't required; for light cleaning just grab a clean, soft, damp cloth. Any stains can usually be dealt with by adding a touch of saddle soap. Air dry it when your done. Skip the dry cleaner.
When sewing this heavy duty fabric, use a larger needle and maybe an industrial sewing machine—but we've had success on some home machines labeled "heavy duty." And we definitely recommend our bonded polyester sewing thread.

Better with Age
Waxed canvas has a long lifespan, and a lot of folks say it wears like leather. It also shares this similarity with leather: it ages and patinas with use. Over time, it will develop 'craze marks' or lines and wrinkles. Don't worry, be happy. These marks are the very thing that gives waxed canvas its handsome appearance. One could, if so inclined, reduce the appearance of these marks with a hair dryer. Or one could leave it be. After all, some things are just better with age.
